This is more than genealogy, it’s a living journey of healing, connection, and celebration.
Magnifying Stories is where memory takes root and legacy blooms. Here, I document my findings as I trace my ancestry across the landscapes of the Northeast and the American South by searching through records, visiting archives, and uncovering untold family stories. Our logo, and name represent how the Magnolia flower can thrive in Southern and Northern climates with proper care, and how Black stories and innovation are connected across borders. Through coaching, storytelling, and cultural exploration, my goal is to help others understand their family trees and have fun applying new Black cultural practices into daily life.

Hi! 👋🏽 I’m Quéla
I’m Quéla, the mind behind Magnifying Stories. As a proud descendant of Gullah Geechee and Haitian heritage, my work is deeply personal. Drawing from my background as both an artist and an educator, I bring creativity, patience, and clarity to every client experience. I believe genealogy isn’t just research, it’s a form of art that I enjoy when transforming records and memories into vivid, lasting images. In addition to genealogy I am deeply passionate about supporting Black artists, actors, and film makers. I love to create and share watchlists and my own film pitches with my three fur babies by my side.
